School Board of Education
 
The District is governed by an elected seven member Board of Education. The current members of the Board of Education may be found on the School Board page of the District's website. The annual schedule of regular meetings of the Board of Education for the current school year, Board of Education meeting agendas, and the approved Board of Education meeting minutes may also be located on the School Board page of the District's website.
 
 
Public Records
 
Full access to the District's public records is available to any person as provided in the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Persons wishing to view or obtain copies of District records should submit a written request directed to the District's Freedom of Information Officer, Mrs. Pam Stevenson, at 4033 S. Illinois Ave, Carbondale, IL 62903 or via email at pstevenson@up140.org.
 
Persons making a request for copies of public records must pay a copying fee. No copying fee is charged for the first 50 pages. The copying fee for each page after the first 50 pages shall be $0.15 per page.

Sex Offender Notification

According to the Sex Offender Community Notification Law, 730 ILCS 152/120, parents of children attending Illinois public and private elementary or secondary schools have the right to information about sex offenders made available to the public. Information regarding the Illinois Statewide Sex Offender Database is accessible via the Illinois State Police Department's home page at http://www.isp.state.il.us/sor/. This database includes a new mapping system where the public can identify any registered sex offenders living within 5 miles of any given address.

 

Disclosure of Federal Participation (Stevens Amendment)

Projects or programs funded in whole or in part with Federal grant money must credit the Federal government for the Federal government's portion of the financial support.

This web page citation informs the public that the use of Federal dollars in Unity Point Community Consolidated District 140 meets the Stevens Amendment requirement. Staff development opportunities, resource purchases and personnel have been funded in whole or in part with Federal entitlement dollars.

Disclosure of Testing for Lead in Schools (Public Act 00-0922, Senate Bill 0550)

Signed into Law by Governor Bruce Rauner on January 16, 2017, Senate Bill 0550 established lead testing requirements and protocols for all water sources used for cooking and drinking within some schools and day care facilitates as well as requirements for water providers to compile a lead materials inventory and provide notification during water distribution work.

Unity Point's final lead test results as reported were no higher than 1.5 ppb (parts per billion) across all categories.
